Srinagar, Dec 10 (KNO): Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday said to have arrested drug peddlers in Srinagar and Awantipora areas.
A Police party of Police Station Nawhatta during Naka checking near Islamia College apprehended an individual under suspicious circumstances. The suspected person has been identified as Haris Farooq son of Farooq Ahmad resident of Hakabazar Badamwari. During the search, SpasmoProxyvon capsules have been recovered from his possession, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmiri News Observer (KNO).
Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 56/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Nowhatta and further investigation has been initiated.
“We urge the public that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” police said.
Meanwhile, the statement reads that a police party led by Incharge Police Post Toll Plaza at a checkpoint established at Kaigam Crossing intercepted a suspicious person. During the search, 23 grams of cannabis-like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Sahil Rashid Parray son of Ab Rashid Parray resident of Jawbara Awantipora.
Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 171/2024 under relevant sections of NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Awantipora and investigation has been initiated.
